Annual Events You Shouldn't Miss!

Parish Picnic
- Always on the 2nd Sunday of August.
The parish picnic began in the summer of 1992. It was started by Roland Pelchat and his friends who were already involved in the annual parish ham dinner. This was seen as another great parish activity bringing the church community together to have a great time. This event has gathered together over 200 parishioners anually. Everyone brings a salad or dessert to share. There are always tons of games like volleyball, horseshoes and team skishoe races, face painting, crafts and other great activities for the kids. Presently the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus #781 are coordinating this awesome event.

Ham Dinner
- Always on the 2nd Sunday of October.
We can trace the origins of this parish event to as early as the 1950s when the Ladies of St. Thomas were coordinating this wonderful dinner. In 1981, the Knights of Columbus, recently established (council #7810), took over this event. They continued the Ham Dinner until 1986, when lack of participation forced the council to dissolved. Because of their love of the parish, Roland and Alice Pelchat and Fred and Theresa Rivers kept this event going. When the Pelchats moved in the mid 90s, Tom Rivers and Dave Leonard took over the event. Many of the volunteers that worked on the dinner prior to this continued their generous efforts; such as Zilda Metcalf, who had been making the coleslaw for years. Presently Tom and Dave are still coordinating this event and the Ham Dinner is bigger and better than ever. There are usually 3 sittings: 4, 5:15 and 6:30pm. It is one of the truly great community building events for the parish.

Christmas Bazaar
- Always on the 1st weekend of hunting season.
The St. Thomas Christmas Bazaar is one of the only bazaars that, to this day, is made up of handmade crafts, bake goods and a wonderful soup kitchen all done by its parishioners. While many of the area churches have had to rent out tables at their bazaars or do away with them altogether, St. Thomas has continued to give their parishioners and the community quality crafts and delicious food. Because of the many volunteers who work together to make this bazaar happen, this has become one of the greatest community builders, along with the Ham Dinner, that both build community and gives witness to the many gifts and talents that are here at St. Thomas Parish.
