The goal of the Religious Education Program is to create a Christian learning atmosphere that will enable all students to participate to the fullest in our Catholic faith community through the ministries of the word, worship, service and gathering. All of our words and actions should follow the example set by Jesus, to love God, our neighbors and ourselves. St. Thomas Church provides a developementally-based program of Catholic education for Preschool to Grade 6 and a bi-monthly program for Grades 7 and 8. Preschool classes are held in the parish hall during the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass. Classes for Grades K through 6 are held at the Underhill Central School on Sunday mornings at 9:15 to 10:30. Grades 7 and 8 meet twice a month in the parish hall on Sunday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:30 PM. Classes participate in parish liturgical functions, especially by taking an active role at the 10:00AM Mass on a monthly basis. The role of discipleship is an important part of the program. Students participate in activities in the civic community as well as outreach to needy children of the world.
Parent participation as catechist, co-catechist, substitutes, party/project leader or clean-up after class is welcome and recommended.
