BAPTISM
A preparation session is done before Baptism is celebrated.
Arrangements are at the convenience of the family.
FIRST PENANCE
This sacrament is usually received in Second Grade, before First Communion, but depends greatly upon readiness of
each child. Other arrangements may be made to accommodate readiness. Adult First Penance is done through RCIA.
FIRST COMMUNION
First Communion is usually received in Second Grade, but also depends upon readiness. As with First Penance,
arrangements may be made to accommodate individual situations. Adults are invited to prepare for Communion through
RCIA.
CONFIRMATION
Young people of high school age are invited to prepare for Confirmation when they feel ready to make their personal
commitment to Christ and to the practice of their faith. The program of Confirmation preparation is part of the
total youth ministry program. It includes a two-year preparation program, beginning in the fall of each year with
Grade Nine, but accepts high schoolers of any age not yet confirmed. Youth programs for community building,
fundraising and reaching out in service to others are held for all high schoolers, planned by youth, carried out
by youth and evaluated by youth.
MARRIAGE
This sacrament requires a time of anticipation and serious preparation. Preparation includes formal interviews
with the pastor to complete required paperwork and to establish readiness. It also includes choosing a program
of immediate preparation, such as Pre-Cana, Engaged Encounter or Couple-to-Couple preparation. Finally, there is
the preparation of the wedding ceremony in all its details with the priest celebrating the marriage.
R.C.I.A.

make a serious commitment in faith to the Catholic tradition. Also an opportunity for updating and renewing
oneself in teachings of the Church. Parish members are support persons during the RCIA process. Sponsors are
chosen by the RCIA candidate. Sacraments are received at Easter Vigil.
