GENERAL INFORMATION
Youth Ministry (YM) at St. Thomas is based on the belief that the youth of our parish possess unique gifts for joy, fun,
curiosity, creativity, love, justice, and idealism. Ministry programs are designed to affirm and develop these gifts in
the context of a faith community. The emphasis of ministry activity is on the individual and building relationships. Program
goals are guided by the Catholic Bishops' pastoral plan, Renewing the Vision, which encourages YM to foster the total personal
and spiritual growth of each young person, empower young people to live as disciples of Christ, and draw young people to
meaningful participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community. We regard parents as partners, the
parish as "youth-friendly", and the wider community as collaborators and resources. YM at St. Thomas consists of the Confirmation
Program, Ongoing Activities, and Periodic Youth Events. Activities are open to all high school age youth of St. Thomas Parish and
those students from other parishes who are attending St. Thomas confirmation program.
CONFIRMATION REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
A letter will be sent to students & families of all Confirmation candidates. All forms are on-line.
Please click on the link below. A new Health/Emergency and Permission Form has been adopted by the Religious Education Committee and completion
of it is required for participation. The Confirmation Program fee is $40 for each student - the family discount is
not applicable. If you did not receive the forms, please notify the Church Office so we can be sure you are
correctly entered on our mailing list.CONFIRMATION PROGRAM
Confirmation is a two year program. Both years are taught during the year on a rotational basis.
Each month students are required to attend 1 LifeTeen night and 1 lesson night a month for the year they are in.
Students need to fulfill 5 hours community service, and 5 hours liturgical service per year. The program offers
many opportunities for these activities. Please find form link below.
During the first year we deepen our relationship with Jesus by following Him through the liturgical year.
The second years focus is on discipleship and Catholic Teachings.
SPONSOR SELECTION: A sheet with instructions for selecting Confirmation sponsors will be distributed to SYC students in October. These should be completed and returned to Suzanne Widlicka at the Parish Office as soon as possible. Print Sponsor Sheet CONFIRMATION NAMES: Students are encouraged to discuss ideas with their parents in preparation for this selection. BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATES: Students not baptized at St. Thomas must provide a copy of his/her baptismal certificate before being confirmed. Parents who have not already submitted a copy should do so immediately. Send to Suzanne Widlicka at the Parish Office.
YOUTH EVENTS
Activities are scheduled throughout the year to provide opportunities for fun, education, and service within the context of
the faith community.
